God’s living word
We receive the Scriptures as a faithful guide for knowing God, forming wise lives, and learning to love our neighbors with truth and humility.
First Church of Heaven
This is the shared posture of First Church of Heaven: reverent toward God, generous toward people, and hopeful about the work of love in the world.
We believe God is worthy of our trust, worship, and love. We seek to know God through Scripture, prayer, the life and way of Jesus, and the faithful care of community.
We believe every person should be welcomed with dignity and without pressure. We make room for questions, seasons of doubt, different stories, and the gradual work of spiritual growth.
We believe faith becomes visible in compassion: serving those in need, pursuing peace, practicing forgiveness, and offering hope where life feels heavy. We gather to encourage one another and to become people whose love reaches beyond our walls.
How we practice faith
We receive the Scriptures as a faithful guide for knowing God, forming wise lives, and learning to love our neighbors with truth and humility.
We come to God in prayer with gratitude, honesty, and hope. We pray for one another and make room for quiet listening as well as shared intercession.
We ask God for healing in body, mind, spirit, and relationships. We offer prayer with tenderness, honor each person’s dignity, and walk with people through every outcome.
We understand righteousness as life made right with God and expressed through integrity, mercy, justice, forgiveness, and faithful service—not as a reason to judge or exclude others.
We worship God with reverence and joy. In song, reflection, and daily life, we seek to give thanks and to remember that God’s love is larger than our divisions.
We grow through learning, repentance, encouragement, and practice. We welcome people at every point in their journey and help one another discover ways to serve with hope and purpose.
Whether you are ready to participate, looking for prayer, or simply learning, First Church of Heaven invites you to take the next faithful step at your own pace.
